Parliament last week set up a select committee to investigate shoddy work at Karuma and Isimba power dam construction.
The select committee was established after the MP for Lwemiyaga County; Theodore Sekikubo moved a motion against the persistent shoddy works and p defects on the ongoing construction of Karuma and Isimba dams.
Sekikubo is calling for investigations on what he called shoddy work at these two power dams which is costing the country 1.4 trillion shillings.
He asked government to make decisive steps to bear on the project contractors to rectify the defeats and non-compliance.
The MP for Ndorwa East, Wilfred Niwagaba while seconding the motion said that the steel that is being used at Karuma is imported from China; no steel is from Uganda steel industries.
The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga recommended a 9 members committee which she said will work for 6 weeks.
