As one of the ways to improve and easy cross border trader between the two states of Uganda and South Sudan, the two governments recently put pen to paper in a single border trader agreement that will now see the two countries have one stop clearing center at Elegu border point.
Signing the pact on behalf of Uganda, the undersecretary foreign affairs ministry Ambassador, Rosette Katungi and her counterpart from South Sudan, Ambassador, Joseph Ayok, state that the agreement will quicken trade facilitation between the two states as now traders will be able to use fewer papers as well as spend lesser time at the border point.
However, the country director, Trade mark East Africa, Moses Sabitti and the acting commissioner customs URA, Magera Stephen say the border at Elegu is the most busiest point in the East African region thus the need to have in place better mechanisms that can facilitate faster movement of goods to easy trade between the countries as this will also enhance competitiveness in the region.
