Court orders the immediate arrest of ACP Siraje Bakaleke

Together with Paul Mugoya Wanyoto and Samuel Nabeta, Bakaleke is accused of defrauding the  Koreans of $415,000 (about Shs1.5 billion) between February 4 and 11, 2018.

Grade One Magistrate, Moses Nabende of the Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala on Friday issued the warrant of arrest of suspended Assistant Commissioner of Police(ACP) Siraje Bakaleke.
The order to immediately arrest Bakaleke follows allegations that he (Bakakleke) defied court summons when he failed to appear before court today to answer to 12 counts of abuse of office, kidnap and conspiracy to defraud and commit a felony among others.
The magistrate acted at the request of state prosecutor Harriet Angom who informed court who reported that neither the ACP nor his lawyers Senguka Robert and Nakachwa Partners showed up for the court proceeding.

ACP Bakaleke had been summoned to appear today (Friday) and answer to 12 counts including abuse of office, kidnap, and conspiracy to defraud and commit a felony.

ACP Bakaleke and other officer who include D/ASP Innocent Munezero, D/ASP Innocent Nuwagaba, D/AIP Robert Asiimwe, PC Amanya Junior, PC Babu Gastavas and PC Kenneth Zirintuusa allegedly directed the wrongful arrest and confinement of three Korean nationals.
