Lewis Hamilton was made to wait for his fifth F1 world championship after finishing third in US Grand Prix as Kimi Raikkonen wins for first time in 113 races to keep alive title hopes of team-mate Sebastian Vettel.
Lewis Hamilton failed to seal a fifth world title when he finished third in an exciting US Grand Prix that took place in Austin, Texas.
Mercedes let a victory slip through their fingers by delaying a second pit stop and Ferrari‘s Kimi Raikkonen took his first victory for more than five years.
Hamilton’s title rival and Raikkonen’s team-mate Sebastian Vettel looked to have handed Hamilton the title early on when he turned into battling with Red Bull‘s Daniel Ricciardo.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen also beat Hamilton, who will have to wait until the race in Mexico next weekend to have another chance of sealing off the 2018 F1 title.
Lewis Hamilton will win his fifth world championship if he finishes at least seventh at the next race in Mexico. The Briton leads the Formula One table 346 points whereas Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari is second with 276 points.
