The president of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, on Wednesday surprised President primary candidates at Uhuru Gardens Primary School in Nairobi when he visited them hours prior to Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam.
The President was escorted by the Kenya Education Cabinet secretary, Amina Mohamed and Kenya National Examinations Council(KNEC) Chairman, Professor George Magoha.
Addressing candidates at the school, Uhuru warned parents against aiding examination malpractice in schools.
“Children in Standard 8 cannot raise the huge amounts of money to buy examinations. Where does a child get Sh100,000 to pay for a stolen exam? It must be their parents who are paying,” he said
The president further encouraged students to uphold moral values even inside the examination room.
“Do not be under pressure to do anything that is wrong, just do your best and my promise is so long as you have done your best, everyone of you will find a place in secondary school,” Uhuru added.
