Marcelo’s reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus appears to be off the table following the reappointment of Zinedine Zidane.
Marcelo has been at Real Madrid since 2007, making almost 500 appearances in all competitions, but it appeared as though his time in La Liga was coming to an end.
Reports had previously claimed the 30-year-old full back was close to agreeing a move to Juventus in the summer, where he would join up with his former Madrid team-mate Ronaldo.
The Brazilian had deflected talks of a move, but it was understood that his relationship with former Los Blancos boss Santiago Solari was strained. It meant he featured far less frequently than in recent seasons, with Solari instead preferring 22-year-old Reguilon.
However, AS report that Marcelo is now keen on staying in the Spanish capital after Zidane was reinstated as Bernabeu boss.
The Spanish outlet report that Zidane spoke to Marcelo, who is contracted to the club until 2022, in private to tell him he is vital to his rebuilding project.
The French boss is hellbent on getting Marcelo to return to his best form and help the club finish strongly in the last 10 games of the season.
