Kubuku District concerned of high rate of school dropouts

Inspite of government provision of free education under the universal primary education and universal secondary education programme more school children in Kibuku district are continuing to drop out of school.

The chief Administrative Officer Kweyamba Ruhimba says the dropout rate of UPE stands at 78% while USE remains at 38%.

Kweyamba attributed this to early marriages, poverty levels and ignorance of the parents about the benefits of education.

Kweyamba condemned such backward cultures that believe every man should marry more than one woman something that has contributed to failure to pay the necessary necessities for the betterment of school children and their families.

He further said the most affected is the girl child. Kweyamba says the district has started the education crusade with the aim of curbing down the shortcoming in the education sector.
