President Youweri Museveni has assured workers in Uganda of government’s commitment to improve the working conditions in the country.
Museveni said the government will strengthen the implementation of fair labour laws already enacted and look into worker’s demands for a minimum wage policy.
He was speaking at the May 1st Labour Day celebrations which took place on Sunday at Entebbe Cricket grounds in Wakiso district.
This year’s celebrations were held under the theme “Consolidating and recognising the workers’ role in production and development”.
Museveni said his government has been concentrating on attracting foreign investment to generate job growth and is aware of the labour issues which he said will soon be addressed.
