Mao and the six who were arrested during walk to work protests are set to appear before City Hall Magistrate on Monday for their bail hearing.

The Public Relations Officer of Uganda Prisons Services, Frank Beine confirmed that Mao and the sex were transferred from Nakasongola to Lizira on Sunday evening.

Beine says they will be presented before court on Monday as required. Mao and the six DP officials refused to apply for bail saying they had not committed any crime.

It is not clear whether Mao and the six others will this time round apply for bail and if they don’t, what the court will do. They were charged with failure to follow orders of a police officer on duty and for inciting violence as after they were arrested walking from Ntinda to Kampala.

There has been a lot of national and international condemnation of the arrest and continued detention of opposition leaders in the walk to work protests that organisers say are against the high cost of living in Uganda.
