Government has said it will investigate the Daily Monitor newspaper for the exclusive photos (as Monitor say) used on their print and online publications.
The State Minister for Internal Affairs, Matia Kasaija has said that the Monitor newspaper will be investigated for the walk to work protest photographs.
He says that the April 28th Kiiza Besigye’s arrest photographs the paper uses in its publications seem to be doctored to tarnish the government image.
Kasaija is among the few NRM stalwarts, who at first condemned the brutal arrest of the FDC boss Dr. Kiiza Besigye on April 28.
In August 2005 the Daily Monitor’s sister radio KFM faced closure in circumstances related to reporting stories that government alleged to have been prejudicial to security. KFM was closed for reporting controversial stories about the death of the former Southern Sudan President John Garang.
