The Public Relations Officer for Parliament, Helen Kawesa has said that parliament has no offices for the increased number of legislators.
Kawesa says that the number of Members of Parliament has increased from 327 to 375 due to the newly created districts which has caused scarcity in offices.
She says that to solve the problem, MPs will be asked to share the offices and the criteria will be on seniority or folios held at party levels.
Kawesa adds that parliament rents rents offices for MPs at Bauman House but there no money at the moment to rent offices for the new entrants.
She asks the MPs who will be asked to share offices to bear with the inconvenience until a solution is reached. She says that the sharing may take 3 years.
On whether the parliamentary chambers will be enough for the increased number, the PR Officer says that there is still enough space in the chambers and government is doing an expansion which will be completed in 2 years.
