Government suspicious of Dr. Besigye’s clandestine move

The government of Uganda is suspicious that the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party President, Retired Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye is in the move to oust President Museveni.

A pronouncement made by government a day after the swearing-in of President Museveni on May 12, indicated that the FDC acts on the return of Besigye from Kenya (Nairobi hospital) was a proper indication that Besigye wants to grab power unlawfully.

The statement made on Friday says that all the terms that were agreed up between government and FDC official on how Dr. Besigye would be received at Entebbe airport and escorted to his home in Kasangati were all repudiated.

Some unconfirmed intelligence sources say that Dr. Besigye wanted to make a coup on Museveni’s swearing-in day as he expected most government stakeholders would be busy at the function at Kololo airstrip.

The government has stated that the violent incidents that occurred on the return of Dr. Besigye on May 12, be blamed on the FDC officials including John Kazoora, Anne Mugisha and Cecilia Ogwala and the FDC party at large who agreed on terms with police and acted otherwise to satisfy their secret interests.
