Opposition says Forum for Democratic Change Party President is under House Arrest

Police backed by military have blocked Dr. Kiiiza Besigye from leaving his home to go and visit capital radio news reporter Gideon Tugume.

Tugume who stays at Gayaza road not too far from Besigye’s home resident Kasangati was shot and injured by security operative last week on Thursday in a scuffle to clear way for President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria along Entebbe road while covering Besigyes return from Nairobi where he had gone to receive treatment for the injuries and pepper spray that was splashed in his eyes.

Besigye home has been besieged by security forces and anybody coming out is being checked thoroughly

In a similar event Winnie Byanyima the wife to Besigye and employee of UNDP was intercepted by police early today on her way to Entebbe International Airport to return to her official dues.

Byanyima was travelling in her husband’s vehicle which police miscalculated to be Besigye locked himself inside and ordered to be towered to Kasangati police station.

Besigye had promised to go to Wakiseka to buy his spare parts for the damaged vehicle later to Sentebalikudembe commonly known to as Owino market

However government has refuted allegation for having imposed a house arrest of Besiggye.

In telephone interview with Internal Minister Kirunda Kivejinja said the police and military are around to avoid similar incidents like those of last week when Besigye was returning from Nairobi and further explained why Winnie Byanyima’s car was towered was a result of a driver failure to comply with traffic rules and regulation.
