The ambassadors in Uganda have asked President Museveni not to reinstate the former ministers who have been involved in corruption scandals.
In the meeting between President Museveni and the diplomats at State House in Entebbe, the diplomats decried the increasing level of corruption in the country and asked Museveni to put aside his outgoing ministers who have been perpetrating the vice.
Though Museveni told his visitors that his administration does not condone corruption citing cases of corruption under investigations, his speech diverted the envoys’ speeches from economic perspective to political angles.
Museveni told the diplomats not to be misguided by the members of the opposition who he said have no discipline and have no vision for the nation.
The Deputy Principal Secretary of President Museveni, Kintu Nyago says that no one has powers to direct the President on the appointment of ministers. He adds that when the foreign countries send ambassadors here (Uganda), Museveni does not scrutinize any.
Tamale Mirundi, the President’s Press Secretary, also says that it is not the foreigners who will tell President Museveni where to begin in fighting corruption. He says that no foreign country asked the President to form the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in parliament which supervises the public funds. Tamale adds that the President has set various structures to fight corruption.
