Soroti Municipality MP Hon Mike Mukula has written to the appointing authority to drop plan of appointing him in the next Cabinet until his case in Courts of law is disposed off. Mukula is accused of misappropriating Gavi funds while still Minister of Health and is still under trial in Court.

Mukula while addressing Journalists at Parliament said his interested in building his Party NRM in the next five years and is strongly opposed appointing People on the Cabinet with corrupt mind saying it will not take the Country any where.

Mukula also made an appeal to the appointing authority to appoint Cabinet which is pro people which will address internal problems like poverty and good governance which are primary needs that affect the local people.

Mike Mukula, maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi and Dr. Alex Kamugisha former health ministers and a former State House aide Alice Kaboyo implicated in alleged misappropriation of Shs1.6b from the Global Fund Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) have been sent to the Anti Corruption Court.

An IGG investigation report released in April 2007 accused the three former ministers, Ms Kaboyo and others of gross mismanagement and abuse of the funds.
