President Yoweri Museveni has imposed a temporary ban on land sale in the oil districts of Hoima and Bulisa.
The order has come about after the Bulisa County Member of Parliament, Stephen Birahwa’s outcry on land bonanza in the oil-rich districts of western Uganda.
Birahwa has been complaining since oil discovery in Bullisa and Hoima that new people have invaded the area by tempting the locals with petty monies and using tricks to grab their lands.
The President says that he has picked interest after finding out that foreigners have also started buying lands in the areas in question.
The president says that he cannot sit back while some foreigners are buying land here without passing through processes.
Museveni has urged the locals to adhere to the order because he has issued it for their own good.
