The outgoing prime minister, Prof. Apollo Nsibambi has called upon the incoming premier, John Patrick Amama Mbabazi to be cautious while handling his duties as the prime minister since he is the head of all government business in parliament.
Nsibambi made the remarks at the handover ceremony at prime minister’s office in Kampala.
He advised the new prime minister to first handle the issue of the MPs quorum needed for voting in parliament. Nsibambi says that the 33% of the MPs required as quorum is too high and therefore should be reduced.
On receiving the instruments of power from Nsibambi, Mbabazi applauded Nsibambi for keeping the government united. Mbabazi said he will find it hard to fit in Prof. Nsibambi’s shoes but he will do his best.
Mbabazi says he is soon proposing to have a council of the state to accommodate retiring civil servants to help the government on certain duties.
