Criminal summons issued for Moses Kalungi over illegal buildings in Kampala

Former Makindye division chairman Moses Kalungi Kirumira has been summoned to court to explain why he did not turn up for trial on charges of an illegal construction against him.

City Hall Grade Two Magistrate, James Wambaya issued criminal summons to Kalungi a prominent city business man after Kalungi failed to honor his bail granted to him last month.

Prosecution led by Joseph Kwesiga told court that the matter has been fixed for hearing and was surprised that neither Kalungi nor his lawyer Joseph Luzige had appeared in court yet they were aware of the trial date.

Kalungi was on 15th June this year arrested from his construction site on Kafumbe Mukasa road, charged and remanded to Luzira prison on allegations that he was constructing a commercial building at Kisenyi plot 237 and 238 without first obtaining development permission from a physical planning committee of Kampla Capital City Authority.
