Housing estate closed over poor hygiene

Karambi sub county authorities have to day closed housing estates belonging to one Musoka Kilodo in Kitembe village on grounds of poor hygiene and wetland encroachment.

Led by the sub county Chief Mwebesa Perezi, the sub county chairperson Kagoro Emanuel, the sub county district representative Mashuhuko Joseph among other leaders, ordered the relocation of over 250 tenants that have been renting in the condemned housing estates.

 

Emmanuel Kagoro the Karambi sub county chairperson says his office mounted investigations after a security meeting when the area residents disclosed that the condemned housing estates were harboring thieves among other criminals.

Kagoro says that on digging deep to establish the truth, his office discovered that the over 250 tenants were using a four stance latrine which according to him is also in a sorry state.

Kagoro explains that due to the lack of enough latrine facilities, some tenants resort to using the nearby bushes which he says was posing fears of cholera out break in the area.

Joseph Mashuhuko the Karambi sub county district representative says the tenants have been given 48 hours to have vacated the premises.
