Maracha woman member of parliament Lematia Ruth Ondoru has appealed government to construct more health centres in the district.

Ondoru said that the district has only 13 health centres which cannot accommodate the number of people who seek health service.

Ms Ondoru also said that the district has over 193000 citizens but are all served by only 13 health centres of which 9 are centre 3 and 4 of them are centre 2 with only one private hospital added that the number of health workers most especially mid-wives  is minimal yet the population in the district expands day and night.

He  requested  government to increase the number of health centres so that the people don’t walk long distances looking for medication which cause some of them to lose lives most especially women

She said that Maracha is one of the vulnerable districts across the country with maternal and infant mortality rate with no adequate health facilities in the district.
