President Yoweri Museveni is still insisting to have the constitution amended to have the right of bail to suspected rioters, economic saboteurs and defilers scrubbed.
In his closing remarks at a three day retreat of Members of NRM party at State House Entebbe Museveni told MPs that to maintain the development in the country, there is need for law and order, which he said can only be achieved by his proposal law. But some MPs who were in Entebbe say the law is not practical.
MP for Katerera County in Rubirizi District Hon Hatwib Katoto in an Interview with Journalists at Parliament said he will do all it deserves to oppose the move to scrap Bail from the Constitution saying it infringes on People’s rights and they must exercise it.
However Samia Bugwe North MP John Mulimba said Ugandans must wait for a report from the Committee of Lawyers headed by the Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi which has been mandated to scrutinize the proposed draft bill so that they can discuss it on informed ground.
