The Forum for Democratic Change party has threatened to drag the government to the courts of law for allegedly putting its leader, Dr. Kiiza Besigye under security surveillance.
While talking to the media at the FDC headquarters in Najjanankumbi, Kampala today, the party spokesperson, Wafula Ogutu said that they have observed that the home of Dr. Besigye is surrounded by security personnel day and night.
Ogutu said that Besigye should be allowed his freedom of movement and be treated like any other Ugandan. Ogutu says that the government should detain Besigye if it feels he is a criminal.
He adds that the number of security personnel is also high around the FDC headquarters compared to other parts of the city.
However, the police spokesperson, Judith Nabakooba says that the security deployment in Kampala is the force’s general routine adding that the security is not directed to individuals.
She says that the force has received information that there are likely demonstrations in Kampala hence intensifying security in the whole city.
