The Vice President Edward Sekandi has challenged member states in the East African Community to involve the common person in the integration process.
Sekandi was today speaking at the opening at the 3rd East African Conference on good governance.
He observed that the countries have ignored the common person in the entire intergration process, limiting its impact.
Sekandi advised that involving the common man will make the integration process more meaningful.
He called on the countries in the East African Community to work together towards ensuring that the rule of law prevails in the region.
Sekandi further urged the countries to find solutions to the problems plaguing the region such as the high inflation rates and increased cost of living.
The Conference which has attracted participants from all the East African community partner states is being held under the theme “upholding the rule of law and constitutionalism, for promotion of regional integrity.
