The majority of the Members of Parliament have approved the eviction of vendors from the streets as advanced by KCCCA

The motion seeking for suspension of the eviction of vendors from streets and creating the special committee to handle the vendors concerns was moved by the mp for kumi county Patrick Amuriat and seconded by Terego mp Kassiono Wadri.

The motion was opposed by 76 mps, in favour of the motion were 45 mps and 2 abstained.

However, the mps approval of the eviction of vendor was stayed and regarded as not binding when the opposition leader in parliament diluted the approval of the eviction of the street vendors when he cited lack of quorum after voting on the motion.

The MPS in house were 123 and the quorum needed was for 125 mps out of 375 mps.

MPS who I included kampala district woman mp Nabila Sempala , kawempe south mp Richard Sebuliba   Mutumba and Terego county mp Kassiano Wadri told parliament that eviction of vendors from the street without alternative place for them  would cause insecurity in Kampala.

Nabila asked the minister for presidency Kabakumba masiko who is also the minister for kamapala to clarify whether KCCA is made up by the Executive Director Jeniffer Musisi only because she has not consulted the lord mayor and councillors while evicting the street vendors.

Mp sebuliba warned government against pushing vendors as rubbish because they have to be given time to leave the streets after showed alternative place.

The mp for Rubirizi county Atwib katooto said that politicians should stop allowing vendors on streets during the election time so that are out of streets .
