Opposition MPs who have been campaigning against over expenditure and wastage of public funds have reportedly received 103 million shillings for a car deal. However we have been told by a source in parliament that the MPs who received this money have been told to keep the matter as a top secret.

There are five opposition parties with MPs in the 9th parliament ofUganda. The Conservative Party, Democratic Party, Forum for Democratic Change, Justice Forum popularly known as Jeema and the Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC).

Some of the opposition MPs in Uganda’s August house are Odonga Otto (FDC), Sebuliba Mutumba (DP), Latiff Sebaggala (DP), Elijah Okupa (FDC), Reagan Okumu (FDC), Beatrice Anywar (FDC), Emmanuel Dombo (FDC), Hussein Kyanjo (JEEMA), Ken Lukyamuzi (CP), Cecilia Ogwal (FDC), Betty Nambooze (DP), Betty Namaganda (DP), and Issa Kikungwe of Kyadondo South (DP) among others.

A source further explained to us that not all opposition MPs have received car cash. It says that some will receive the money in March this year. Some NRM MPs received their cash meant to buy cars in December last year and also the remaining batch of NRM mps will receive it in march 2012. So when you see MPs cruising in brand new cars don’t wonder where they got the money from.
