Although Makerere UniversityVice Chancellor Prof. Venansious Baryamureba dismisses claims by some of the university staff members that he is occupying the post illegally, many of the academic staff members of Makerere University have come out to back up their accusation against Baryamureba.

Dr. Tanga Odoi, the chairperson of the academic staff association of Makerere University says that Baryamureba has over stayed in the position of acting Vice Chancellor yet he was supposed to occupy it for only six months. Tanga demands that Baryamureba resigns the office to pave way for another person to occupy it.

However Baryamureba urges Tanga and all other critics of his over stay in office to wait until the parliament amend the universities and other tertiary institutions act such that Makerere finds a substantive Vice Chancellor.
