The members of parliament in Uganda are to start sitting in alphabetical order irrespective of their political ideologies.
The political opinions represented in 9th Uganda parliament are Democratic Party (DP), Uganda peoples Congress (UPC), Justice Forum, popularly refereed to as JEEMA, Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), the Conservative Party (CP), the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the independent MPs who are also considered as an independent political opinion in Uganda parliament..
Currently there are only two sitting spaces for opposition and for the ruling National Resistance Movement. Independent MPs who are considered as the third opinion in Uganda parliament sit on the opposition side.
The independent MPs in the 9th parliament of Uganda have been demanding for their own space instead of sitting on the opposition side. There are 43 independent MPs in the 9th parliament.
The speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga says that the MPs will sit in alphabetical order when the new parliamentary chambers being built are complete.
