The electoral commission has held a closed door meeting with the political party leadership inUgandaincluding the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
The Monday consultative meeting dubbed ‘the National Consultative Forum’ took place at Ranch on the Lakein Wakiso district. The political parties discussed good governance, economy and rule of law among others issues.
The meeting was attended by representatives from NRM, Conservative Party, Forum for Democratic Change, Justice Forum and Uganda People’s Congress (UPC).
The chairperson of the National Consultative Forum comes from NRM. The Political Parties and Organisations Act (PPOA) provides for the establishment of the National Consultative Forum.
The president general of DP, Norbert Mao, the president general of FDC, Col. Kiiza Besigye and the national chairperson of NRM Gen. Yoweri Museveni were not at the meeting. They were represented by their respective party secretary generals.
