Uganda Parliament is awaiting for an official communication from the Electoral Commission (EC) before it swears-in Betty Nambooze of the Democratic Party as the MP-Elect for Mukono North.
Nambooze won the by election on Tuesday, defeating the ruling National Resistance Movement candidate, Rev. Peter Bakaluba Mukasa by a margin of over 1,800 votes.
The Speaker of Parliament, Edward Ssekandi, while meeting Nambooze on Friday evening revealed that the ceremony will be conducted before the last session of Parliament is convened in the next two weeks.
Nambooze expressed confidence that her term in office will be fruitful.
She promises to represent the views of the people of Uganda unlike NRM politicians whom she says they are representing the wishes of only one man, Gen. Yoweri Museveni.
