The president of Makerere University Guild, Kata Ivan has sacked 10 of his 38 Deputy Ministers.

The students ministers affected pleaded for mercy but president Kata only said that “his decision was final.”

The constitution of Makerere Students Guild empowers the students Guild President to appoint and to reshuffle his ministers at any time he/she wishes.

Kata says that he followed the students’ guild constitution which provides for only 28 students ministers but not 38.

Kata had earlier made a mistake when he appointed 38 ministers. Some of the reshuffled ministers have threatened to impeach president Kata in retaliation for their dismissal. However President Kata says that he will not be “scared.”
