EALA speaker Zziwa returns to Kampala, Amama Mbabazi refuses to meet her

The Speaker of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), ms Margaret Nantongo Zziwa returned to Uganda on Tuesday afternoon and she received a heroic welcome from a handful of people at Entebbe Airport.

On arrival at Entebbe International airport, Zziwa jumped into her Mercedes Benz, waved to her supporters including MPs of the Ugandan Parliament and drove to Kampala.

Ms Zziwa is now the first woman to hold the position of speaker in the East African Legislative Assembly. It might take a long time for aUgandan to become the Speaker for EALA since the position is held on rotational basis among member states. From Entebbe Zziwa drove to NRM head offices and we are told that the NRM secretary general, Amama Mbabazi refused to meet her.

Zziwa last week beat hands off ms Dora Byamukama, the person Amama Mbabazi’s party had fronted to contest against Zziwa.
