City associate Shanita Namuyimbwa a.k.a. Bad Black has pleaded for mercy after being convicted of embezzling of 11 billion shillings from Daveshan, a company she jointly owned with her British lover, David Greenhalgh.
Also her accomplice, Meddie Ssentogo, a city socialite was also convicted of conspiring to defraud the company. Bad Black has asked the judges to be lenient for her since she has got a two month baby.
The Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala presided over by Justice Catherine Bamugemereire found Bad Black and Sentoongo guilty of the offence. Bad Black and Ssentongo will be handed their sentences on Thursday.
The court heard that in September 2010, Greenhalgh jointly formed a company with Bad Black, which was registered as Daveshan Development Limited dealing in Real Estate.
Greenhalgh had 75% shares while Bad Black had 25% shares. Greenhalgh and Bad Black opened an account in Barclays Bank Kampala to operate the business.
Between September 2010 and March2011, Greenhalgh deposited $3,824,130 from UK to facilitate the business.
But on December 5th, 2010 when Greenhalgh came to Uganda to monitor the progress of their business he discovered that Bad Black had allegedly failed to account for the money.
