Uganda can now boost of oil production engineers to help the country exploit the oil resources confirmed in different parts of the country.
According to a media statement, the group of 10 underwent 6-10 months hands-on training in the United Kingdom and at the Bangladesh production facility where they were exposed to areas such as oil and gas separation, gas dehydration, natural gas liquids recovery, fractional distillation, oil pumping and metering, injection and water treatment, as well as environment health safety management.
They also got training on, control of major accidents and hazards, control of substances hazardous to health and management of major emergencies including fire, explosion and gas release.
The 10 oil production engineers will be tasked with overseeing the country’s oil development production processes.
The group included Mr Ronald Ssempebwa, Mr Stanley Kiganda, Mr Denis Kiyingi, Mr Dennis Kiwanda, Mr Innocent Osuna, Mr Mark Olweny, Mr Kenneth Opitto, Mr Godfrey Ojambo, Mr Alfred Busobozi and Mr Collins Opio.
According to Jimmy Mugerwa, Tullow Uganda’s general manager, this move is a demonstration that Ugandan’s talent is not being left behind in terms of the company’s commitment in supporting national capacity development in oil and gas.
