The deputy speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah has finally ended the impasse at the National Assembly that started in August when four members were suspended following their conduct during the passing of the Public Order management Bill.
Shortly after a meeting with the leader of opposition Nandala Mafabi, Oulanyah who first explained the purpose of the rules of procedure apologized to the house and the people of Uganda on behalf of the four lawmakers and his own behalf.
Oulanyah said that for the sake of having honour and peace in the National Assembly, there was need to end this impasse.
He however warned lawmakers to take the rules of procedures governing the National Assembly if they are do their duties as expected.
Nandala Mafabi appreciated the move by the deputy speaker Oulanyah saying this is what is expected of a leadership.
Meanwhile, one of the affected MPS Theodore Ssekikubo said that the victory goes to parliament and all Ugandans but questions why the institution would go this far.
