The ministry of health is attributing the high levels of teenage pregnancies to the low contraceptive use in the country something and has continued to worry the officials in the ministry as levels of the population continue to grow coupled with unsafe abortions among the group.
According to the assistant commissioner reproductive health, Dr. Collins Tusingwire notes that 5% of these young girls cannot access contraceptives contributing to a 23% unsafe abortion that continues to concern the ministry.
Now Dr. Collins calls for more proactive approaches to see to it that the group accesses the contraceptives to prevent such vices.
And the executive director center for human rights development (CEHURD) Moses Mulumba says these alarming statistics need to be worked on if govt can make better and clear laws on unsafe abortions
