The Republic of Uganda leads in bus accidents. The 2013 provisional report for bus accidents in Uganda indicates that western Uganda leads in bus accidents followed by central Uganda and Eastern Uganda.
From January 2013 to October 2013, several bus accidents have occurred and tens of people lost their lives and hundreds injured. The countdown started in January 2013 with Teso coach getting involved in an accident at Crested Towers in Kampala. Many people were injured. This accident occurred in Kampala though the bus was heading to eastern Uganda (Teso).
Records indicate that in April 2013, a Link bus got involved in an accident and killed four people on spot in Fort Portal, western Uganda, while in May 2013 over 19 were injured in a Link bus in Nakasongola, central Uganda.
In July 2013, a Jussey bus killed one person in Kakangye forest in Rubirizi, western Uganda. On August 2013, four people died in a bus accident and over 30 people were injured in Ishaka-Bushenyi, western Uganda.
Recently over 31 people were injured when a Swift Safaris coach bus registration number UAP-0464 lost control and over turned thrice at Kadugala village on Masaka-Kampala road. Some of the accident victims were admitted with multiple fractures including 6 UPDF officers who had returned from Somalia on peace keeping mission. The bus was heading to western Uganda.
