In our reports last week we revealed to you the causes of infertility in men, definition and treatment of infertility. But in this article, however, our health expert Walakira Nyanzi will take us to the causes of infertility in women.

The causes of infertility in women include uterine or cervical abnormalities, including problems with the opening of the cervix/ cervical mucus/ abnormalities in the shape / cavity of the uterus.

Benign tumors in the wall of the uterus (uterine fibroids) may sometime cause infertility in women by blocking the fallopian tubes. Fibroids distort the uterine cavity interfering with implantation of the fertilized eggs.

It is better also to note that fallopian tube blockage usually results from inflammation of the fallopian tube (salpingitis). The doctors say that this can result from pelvic inflammatory disease, caused by sexually transmitted infection, endometriosis and adhesions.
