Butambala member of parliament warns of rigging 2016

Butambula county Member of parliament  Muwanga Kivumbi has warned Ugandans that government already started hatching a strategic move to rig the 2016 general elections under the guise of executing the National Identity Card Project.

Muwanga’s assertions come after the Internal Affairs Minister general Aronda Nyakayirima revealed today government is to embark on a multi-sectoral approach to execute the National Identity Card, register voters and conduct the National census at the same time.

Kivumbi says the approach is a well calculated move to rig the 2016 general election, because it bundles up all citizens at the age of 16 who will be eligible to vote by the year 2016.

The Internal Affairs Minister who had appeared before the Defense and Internal Affairs Committee of Parliament General Aronda Nyakayirima dismissed Kivumbi’s claims calling it politics. He said the intention of the multi-sectoral approach to have the National IDs is geared towards saving costs.

Nyakayirima says that the multi-sectoral approach that will see that all Ugandans have National Identity Cards by next year will help have the country to have the actual size of the population, register voters and also help in security management.
