Symptoms of dysentery in babies: Dysentery is diarrhea in which the loose or watery stool contains visible blood.
The disease is characterized by an inflammation in the intestines especially the colon. Dysentery results from poor hygiene.
Most people are of a low social status for example those living in slums, as poor hygiene and sanitation increases the risk of the dysentery by spreading the bacteria that cause the disease-mainly through food or water contaminated from infected human faeces.
The common mode of transmission is oral. Symptoms of dysentery in babies appear after 1 to 3 days.
The child with dysentery presents watery diarrhea, which presents with blood. Aside, the child experiences severe stomach pain, high fever and constantly feels like passing stool.
