Kyotera county Member of parliament Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo has called for the immediate arrest of the Principle of Kamengo Technical Institute Charles Ebongo for diversion of funds meant for a proposed students hostel.
Kyeyune expressed disappointment over the conduct of the principle who confessed to have taken over 100 million shillings to be returned on the 15th of this month which he failed to fulfill.
The lawmaker revealed the board chairman Kamengo Technical Institute Mohammed Muwonge has also reported the matter to the Rakai District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for intervention.
He says that the diversion of the funds was released after the Kituntu contracts limited responsible to construct the students’ hostel demanded for their 25 million shillings.
Meanwhile Kasolo says this unfortunate incident could be a blessing in disguise because the school also requires major refurbishment to ensure that it delivers the intended purposes to the students’ community ion Rakai District.
Kasolo says this should be the time for the education ministry to transfer Ebongo who has failed to manage the institute that is currently in a sorry state.
