Finance ministry releases second quarter funds to government departments and ministries worth 2.5 trilion.

Ministry of finance has today announced the release of the 2nd quarter cash limits for to all govt agencies and ministries for the period October to December 2013/14 with huge caution to the accounting officers on good accountability coupled with transparency in managing public funds.

Speaking to the press this afternoon at the ministry headquarters in Kampala, the secretary to the treasury, Keith Muhakanizi confirms that the over UGX. 2.5 trillion cash limits will be for wage, non wage recurrent and development expenditures for the period October to December 2013 with ministries and agencies, referral hospitals, missions abroad and local governments having a share.

Muhakanizi mentions that govt through such initiatives has increased transparency and accountability in all its agencies and departments by setting up tough measure which include having a single account for govt expenditures among others that they think will fight the embezzlement of funds.

At the same event he confirms govt comittement to pay a 25% and 10% salary increase to teachers in financial year 2014/15 and 2015/16 as agreed between govt and UNATU.
