Who is at risk of razor bumps?

Razor bumps are hairs that grow inwards after shaving. However although the bumps are unsightly, they are not painful. They can affect any part of the body, which has been recently shaved and occur in both men and women.

The people with curly hair are more likely to get razor bumps than those with straight hair because curly hair grows out and then curl back towards the skin.

The moment the hair pierces the skin and begins to grow, the body fights the hair as if it were an infection…this results in a razor bump.

It may also occur when someone shaves the skin without moisturising it prior to shaving. The use of a blunt razor can also contribute to razor bumps as well as shaving too often.

A dirty razorblade that introduces bacteria into the skin can also cause the bumps.
