Intelligence organs in Uganda are probing reports that former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party president, Col. Kizza Besigye is recruiting rebels of Peoples Redemption Army (PRA) through agents. Security sources say that they are working on a tip that Besigye is recruiting rebels through his aides headed by one Patrick Mugumya, Francis Mwejwishy, and another one only identified as Harold.
The development comes at a time when Besigye has announced that he will not stand for presidency in 2016 and will instead use other means to dismantle the government in Kampala.
The security agencies suspect that Besigye, who is one of the founding members of FDC is basing on American funding to plan a rebellion.
Besigye unsuccessfully contested for presidency thrice (2001, 2006 and 2011) against Gen. Museveni and lost.
