Sections of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) councilors have asked the embattled Lord Mayor of Kampala, Erias Lukwago to humble himself and say sorry to president Museveni, KCCA councilors and the city director Jeniffer Musisi if he wants to remain in his seat as the city mayor.
The councilor representing Makerere to Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Bernard Luyiga prays that KCCA matters should not be over politicised to the extent that some glaring evidence implicating Lukwago’s weaknesses should be covered up by members of the public. Luyiga is one of the KCCA councilors we hear the Kampala Director Jenifer Musisi, president Museveni and the minister for Kampala uses to mobilise others to remove Lukwago from office.
Luyiga says he was a witness in a tribunal against Lukwago and “I should testify again Publicly that Hon Lukwago illegally and irregularly withdrew me from the University council of makerere university without clear and genuine reasons. This contradicted the provisions of the university and other tertiary institutions Act .Why cant Hon Lukwago, be bold enough and say I am sorry and we the councilors forge a way forward! I want to say, as i have always stated before you members of the public that as leaders, If we are to solve a problem, lets learn to appreciate that some mistakes were made. Trying to hide one’s administrative weaknesses under the guise of politics is not fair and will only worsen the situation in KCCA!”
