The state Minister for higher Education Dr. John Cyrsostm Muyingo says the unanimous decision by Kyambogo University staff to resume work is a big victory to Education sector as now the students are going to gain from the much tuition they had paid for the semester.
This as he met all university teaching and non teaching staff in their general assembly to resolve on the sit down strike that had last for three weeks as they protested the return of Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Omoro Ndiyege who they did not want to work with.
During the meeting at the University, Muyingo assured the staff that their grievances are to be worked upon through regular meetings and cleared the air over victimizing those who had headed the strike saying that all differences have been abandoned that no one is to be implicated on this.
Dr. Twesigye Charles, the chairman Kyambogo University Academic staff says they are happy their complaints have been heard by government in the period the strike has been on and that for love of their country, they decided to resume work as Prof. Ndiyege’s term in office ends in January next year.
Meanwhile, the students at the university have welcomed the initiative taken by their lecturers as this is to help them meet their goals.
