Attending a relative’s wedding looks so normal in different parts of the world but not in Uganda. In Uganda if you are not in good terms with the people in power the police may come from no where and stops you from attending your relative’s wedding.
The moment you insist, the government may deploy police at your residence to block you. For example the Police refused former president of Forum for Democratic Change, Dr. Kizza Besigye from attending a relative’s wedding.
Besigye was ordered to stay at his home until the East African Community meeting of the East African Heads of States that was taking place in Kampala ends. Besigye says in Uganda you can only do what pleases the head of state.
