Museveni invites Lukwago and Besigye for a meeting

President Museveni has invited Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and opposition leader Col. Kizza Besigye for a closed door meeting. Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi says Museveni and the government is aware that having peace talks with these two leaders will restore harmony in Kampala.

Mbabazi says that Besigye is free to attend the peace talks in two weeks time with anyone of his choice but the leader of opposition in parliament Nandala Mafabi must attend these talks because he was the one who initiated them.

The prime minister, speaking at NRM head offices in Kampala on Thursday, told Ultimate Media that the government no longer interested in confining Besigye and Lukwago in their homes over issues that can be solved amicably.

NRM Members of Parliament have welcomed the government dialogue with Besigye and Lukwago but they requested that the talks should be of national interest.
