The Republic of Uganda is in preparations to deploy soldiers on a peacekeeping mission to the war-torn Central African Republic (CAR).
Rwanda’s Foreign Affairs minister Louise Mushikiwabo says that the deployment of the Rwandan troops to CAR follows a request from the African Union.
Rwanda was the first country in Africa to deploy peacekeepers in Darfur-South Sudan where it now maintains 3,212 troops under the Hybrid UN-AU mission.
Rwandan soldiers have already studied the terrain of CAR, the conflict in CAR and the language spoken in CAR.
The Central African Republic has for the last 10 years been trapped in civil wars, violence and coups due to religious and cultural differences.
