The government of Uganda is being called upon to allocate more funds to the provision of basic needs and improved wellbeing of children.
The Uganda parliamentary forum for children is expressing concern because the percentage of the budget directly channeled to address the needs of children is very limited. The forum has appealed to the governmnet to increase the budget.
Uganda MP Muwuma Milton who is a member of the forum says the government needs to treat children as a priority and put them at the center of its public policies.
The request has come today as Uganda joins the rest of African states in commemorating the Day of the African child.
The Member of Parliament calls for measures to protect children from all forms of violence, abuse and exploitation.
