The government of Uganda has been called upon increase its investment in maternal and reproductive health in the country.

Women activists in Uganda say maternal and reproductive Heath continues to be one of the big health
challenges with the statistics showing that only about 42% of the women get skilled attendance at childbirth which is an appalling statistic.

A policy brief of the Uganda Women’s Network has urged the government to increase its investment in maternal and child health if it is to cause any substantial positive change in that sector.

The brief also says that in order for the government to succeed in combating the challenge of poor maternal health, Uganda needs to come up with a comprehensive approach to be able to succeed in improving maternal health in Uganda.

The brief says such a comprehensive approach would involve the government coming up with measures like a strong campaign for reproductive health development at the grassroots levels and increasing
the health budget, as well as gender support among others.
